Yamba | NSW

Contemporary Queenslander

Located just 300 meters from the Clarence River, Casa Yamba is a modern interpretation of the classic Queenslander house, designed to meet the challenges of its flood-prone environment with a sustainable approach.

For over 150 years, local homes have faced the relentless forces of tides, humidity, and the intense Australian sun. Casa Yamba addresses these age-old issues by integrating architectural elements that have stood the test of time, now reimagined with contemporary design principles. Elevated for protection against floods, the house is equipped with features that manage moisture and shade, ensuring a comfortable living environment while maintaining a connection to its historical roots.

Casa Yamba is a successful exercise on how modern architecture can respect and evolve from traditional wisdom, offering a resilient and stylish refuge in the heart of nature.
